Blog 10:

Describe why sampling is important to the study of populations

Sampling is important for study the populations because to draw conclusions about populations from samples, we must use inferential statistics which enables us to determine a population`s characteristics by directly observing only a portion (or sample) of the population. We obtain a sample rather than a complete enumeration (a census ) of the population for many reasons. Obviously, it is cheaper to observe a part rather than the whole, but we should prepare ourselves to cope with the dangers of using samples. In this tutorial, we will investigate various kinds of sampling procedures. Some are better than others but all may yield samples that are inaccurate and unreliable. We will learn how to minimize these dangers, but some potential error is the price we must pay for the convenience and savings the samples provide.

Which Biome would you most like to visit? Why? Opinion Why is it as important to know about the water ecosystems as the terrestrial?

i would like to live on marine/island. Because Islands vary tremendously when it comes to shapes, sizes and climates. Some are tropical and lush, while others are jagged and arid. They have alot of unique types of animals, such as the giant tortoises of Galapagos, Madagascar's lemurs, and the humongous Komodo dragons, they even have the largest lizards in the world.

i think lliveing on a island is so much fun. I think the weather would be perfect.

Blog 11 Describe 3 abiotic factors that could affect biotic potential (population growth) and how they would affect it

Abiotic factors that affect reproduction are as follow.
1)factor can diseases. Sexually transmitted diseases can prevent reproduction because organisms with these diseases may not be able to reproduce at a healthy rate and death may come from these matters. 2) predation. Predators have to get their share of food and by doing this, they kill other animals and ruin habitats in the process.3)natural destruction. Human nature is very random. You never know when a hurricane or an earthquake might hit and destroy many habitats and make species go instinct.

What can diet tell us about the organisms that are eating? Give three examples
1 -it could tell us if what they ate had a virus
The animal they ate could have been sick and they could tell where they got that virus and how.
2-it could tell us if it was healthy
The animal they ate could be healthy and it would show that it was really good for the one who ate it.
3-it could also tell us about their environment.
They could tell what the animal has eaten and where its from
